The desert air of Arizona was a fickle setting for major league outfielder Jason Kubel in the year-plus that he played for the Diamondbacks: he slammed 30 HRs with 90 RBIs in 2012, but he hit just .216 with five homers in 2013 before being shipped to Cleveland in August.
This off-season, Kubel inked a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins, with whom he played from 2004-2011. Even though the Southwest is much warmer than the Twin Cities, Kubel has decided to ditch his Scottsdale, Ariz. home, recently listing it for $1.335 million.
Until Kubel makes it back to the majors, he may not want the upkeep on a place with a den, entertainer’s backyard and a synthetic lawn… No shit, this is what happens when you live in a desert: you get Astroturf.
