If you’re John Kasich and you’re trying to make a few headlines in a wild Republican primary season, you tell voters that you support making the Monday after the Super Bowl a national holiday. Those of us in the sports world have been talking about this idea for years, but a politician about to go to a contested convention has never raised the idea – that I know of.
Sir, you just made headlines.
John Kasich just said on @dpshow that Monday after the Super Bowl should be national holiday.

The governor has numbers to back up his claim. This is from a 2008 report.
Over 1.5 million workers will call in sick the day after the Super Bowl, and millions more will be late. Maybe it’s the reported 325 million gallons of beer Americans will consume — or the 1.3billion chicken wings.
There’s even a name and Wiki page for the Monday after the Super Bowl. It’s called ASH Monday. I think Kasich might be on to something here. Get that done & the approval rating will go through the roof.
