We are now just days away from Ohio State’s home opener against Virginia Tech, so if you’re still tailgate-less, you better step up your search fast. Fortunately for the procrastinators out there, BC reader Brad Keating (@bktwothree) tipped us off on the ultimate Ohio State tailgate: a 1982 Ford fire truck.
“The Fire Truck” is currently up for auction on eBay with a starting price of $10,000, which, if you ask us, is a total steal. According to the seller, the truck only has 44,995 miles on it and comes with popup tents, social media profiles and potentially the two 52” TVs (depending on the price).

I have spared no expense in restoring this truck, and the before/after pictures should show you the care that has been taken into making it what it has become. When purchased, there were many portions that had to be cut out, and new thick gauged sheet metal welded back into place. A large portion of the truck has been covered in U-Pol Raptor bed liner to increase durability. From custom tv brackets made out of the old ladder racks, to replacing the previously damaged wooden beds with composite decking/stainless bolts, this truck has been modified to be both functional, and to keep it reasonably original. The truck only has 44,995 miles on the Caterpillar diesel engine and comes complete with siren, horns, and all lights (many of which have been upgraded to LED). I have intentionally left some of the lights in place for the classic look, such as the top strobes and the front lights. All marker lights and tail lights have been upgraded though.
It’s also worth noting the inside has been signed by former Ohio State basketball players Jared Sullinger and gritking Aaron Craft. So basically, it’s a must-own piece for Buckeyes fans who can foot the bill.

I have taken MUCH pride in making the Fire Buck what it has become…. and I can promise you this… the day it leaves my possession you will absolutely see me cry. I don’t know anyone that has put so much work into a tailgating vehicle, and the events themselves, as I have. I absolutely LOVE my Buckeyes and LOVE the friends, no FAMILY, I have come to enjoy at these events. There is a lot of history with this vehicle and I will ALWAYS cherish what I have been able to accomplish with it. Please take pride in it as well.
