Canada decided to show up in 2015 and has two teams, four total, in the Western Conference bracket of the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. (The other two are in the East, duh!)
After the LA Kings won the Stanley Cup last season, they failed to even make the playoffs this year. But they were not the only Western Conference team to not make the playoffs. This season features four teams in the Western Conference that were not in the playoffs last season. That’s 50% of the teams from last year that have been swapped with new ones. That is a rarity in this league.
