Inspired by Chef Ron Ben-Israel (not really), Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper spent his Monday evening creating a luscious, homemade ice cream sandwich. Unfortunately for Harper, he was hit with a heavy dose of reality from former teammate Dan Haren.
Dan, who was feeling a little cranky, went total old-man status and unloaded on metabolism and Skinny Cow ice cream. It’s the easily the rant you never thought you needed in life:
This tweet attracted ESPN writers Ramona Shelburne and Molly Knight to the lively discussion, which led to Dan throwing anything but 88 mph:
Anyone who has had Skinny Cow knows Dan isn’t wrong here. As he alluded to, it is indeed cardboard’y and for a “diet” ice cream, it really isn’t that healthy. If you desperately need desserts, you’re better off going all out and stuffing your face with food that delivers, not garbage you can buy in bulk at Costco.
As far as Dan is concerned, I highly recommend you follow him on Twitter (@ithrow88). He’s a severely underrated baseball follow and has provided hot takes on Adam Laroche’s hunting and the consequences of binge-watching “Family Feud.”
