It’s been 10 years since Sebastian Telfair was the Portland Trail Blazers‘ first-round pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. Ten years!
Telfair entered the NBA Draft straight out of Coney Island’s Abraham Lincoln High School, where he was considered one of the best point guards in the country. He spurned a scholarship offer from Louisville for the pros, and the rest was disappointing history: Telfair averaged 7.4 points and 3.5 assists per game for seven NBA teams from 2004 to 2013, while collecting $18.2 million in salary.
Now playing in China for Tianjin Ronggang, Telfair is selling his huge home in Hopewell Junction, New York for $1.1 million. Included in the price tag is a tranquil Mid Hudson Valley setting with amazing mountain views, a gas fireplace and a professionally designed kitchen.
Telfair might even throw in the sweet “Coney Island Express” poster of him on the office wall if you ask nicely.
