When you hear the title Florida Man, you know something crazy is going to happen. And this is no different.
South Florida mechanic Brandon Griffin was out fishing in the ocean when he accidentally hooked a hammerhead shark. The shark allegedly measured 12 feet long.
After realizing he had reeled in a massive beast, Griffin threw caution to the wind.
He unhooked the shark and dragged it back into the ocean.
“I reeled it in as fast as I could, de-hooked it in the water and gave it a proper release back into the ocean by swimming it past the surf,” the 23-year-old said, via the New York Post.
That’s a bold move.
Griffin said that he has previous experience releasing hammerheads and that he had help releasing them back into the ocean. He also added that he believes hammerheads get a bad reputation.
“I’ve helped released quite a few hammerheads and they really don’t mean any harm,” Griffin said. “I’m not worried about hammerheads, not even in the wild.
“I’m more scared of thinking what has followed this shark in, such as a very large bull shark or a tiger shark.”
Chalk another one up for Florida Man.
