The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to pay-per-view this past weekend with UFC 294 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with a champion vs. champion main event.

In the main event, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev returned to action to put his title on the line in a rematch with featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski.

Volkanovski was looking for revenge after dropping a decision to Makhachev in their first bout, while the Dagestani fighter wanted to make a statement. When it was all said and done, it was Makhachev who got his wish with an emphatic knockout victory just three minutes into the fight. Makhachev caught Volkanovski with an incredible headkick before delivering some brutal ground-and-pound until referee Marc Goddard jumped in to call an end to the fight.

In the co-main event, Khamzat Chimaev made his highly-anticipated return to take on former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in a middleweight bout.

Chimaev was able to use his dominant grappling to overwhelm Usman en route to a majority decision win.

After the event was over, $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses went to Makhachev, Muhammad Mokaev, Ikram Aliskerov, and Said Nurmagomedov.
