Kadarius Toney is going through it.

The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, who was a first-round pick of the New York Giants in 2021, had a dreadful showing in the defending Super Bowl champion’s season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night.

Toney finished the game with one catch for one yard, three drops, and a bobbled pass that ended up in the hands of Lions defensive back Brian Branch for a pick-six.

It was as bad of a performance as you can have and the fans immediately began roasting him on social media.

In fact, Toney was roasted so badly on social media that after the game he deleted his X — formerly known as Twitter — account.

Despite the harsh words and jokes from the fans, Toney did receive some support after the game from star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who said he still has faith in Toney moving forward through the season.

“Obviously he would’ve wanted to catch a few of those in the game, but I’ve trusted he’s going to be that guy that I go to in those crucial moments, and he’s going to make the catch and win us some games like he did last year,” Mahomes told reporters after the game, via TMZ Sports.

“So we’re going to continue to work him in, get him more and more reps, and I’m sure that those drops will kind of disappear.”

Up next for the Chiefs, as they look to bounce back in Week 2, is a trip to TIAA Bank Field to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kansas City will be hoping that Toney has more catches than drops.
