The Colorado football team made a big statement on Saturday, beating the national runner-up TCU Horned Frogs, 45-42, in a thrilling game to kick off the season.

It was Deion Sanders’ debut with the revamped Buffaloes squad, and with the help of the team’s star players, they were able to come away with a major win in Week 1.

Sanders’ son, starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders, lit up the box score with an incredible performance. Sanders connected on 38-of-47 passes for a school-record 510 yards and four touchdowns.

Travis Hunter, the team’s two-way phenom, contributed 11 catches for 119 yards on the offensive side of the ball while recording an interception and providing shutdown coverage on defense.

As a result of the performances, Sanders and Hunter saw their Heisman odds drastically improve.

According to the oddsmakers, Sanders has vaulted up the board from 66/1 odds to bring home college football’s most prestigious honor to 20/1. Hunter, meanwhile, is now listed at 40/1.

In addition to the surge in Heisman odds, Shedeur Sanders now sees himself on the board for the odds to go No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Previously unlisted, Sanders makes a splash on the NFL Draft board at 20/1 odds.

The 2023 season is young and plenty will change over the coming months, but it’s safe to say that Coach Prime and his star players put the college football world, national media, and oddsmakers on notice.

Up next for Colorado is the Buffaloes’ home opener against Nebraska on Saturday, September 9, at 12:00 p.m. ET.
