Dabo Swinney won’t be going anywhere for a long time.
According to Matt Connolly of Clemson Sports, the Clemson head coach has signed a new deal with the Tigers that was approved by the Clemson Board of Trustees on Thursday morning.
Swinney’s new deal is for 10 years and will pay the head coach $115 — an average of $11.5 million per year. He previously inked a 10-year, $93 million contract in 2019.
With the new and improved contract, Swinney becomes the second-highest paid coach in college football.
Alabama’s Nick Saban is the lone coach making more than Swinney at $11.7 million per year.
Swinney has been head coach of Clemson since 2009 and has won two national championships and 7 ACC titles with the Tigers. He joined Clemson in 2003 as a wide receivers coach. Prior to joining Clemson, Swinney spent time at Alabama as a graduate assistant, wide receivers and tight ends coach.
Up next for the Tigers is their home opener at Memorial Stadium on Saturday when they welcome Furman.
