Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo announced this week that he and his girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez lost their newborn son after welcoming twins to the world.
After the heartbreaking news, Manchester United announced that Ronaldo would be missing Tuesday’s game against Liverpool while he continues to understandably grieve.
But while Ronaldo wasn’t present on the pitch, the Man United and Liverpool fans came together for an incredible moment at Anfield.
The fans sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone” during the seventh minute of the match and applause rang out for minutes as the fans showed their support for Ronaldo during this incredibly difficult time.
Both teams also wore black armbands to pay tribute.
What happened was an emotional moment that reminds us how sports bring us all together.
