Former NFL RB, Longtime Cowboys Assistant Gary Brown Dies At 52

Gary Brown, a longtime Dallas Cowboys assistant coach, passed away over the weekend.

According to an announcement from the team, Brown was in hospice care after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was 52 years old.

“Everyone who knew him, loved him,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. “He meant so much to the players he coached and the coaches he coached with. His love for family, football, and life was evident each day.”

Prior to his coaching career, Brown played eight seasons in the NFL for the Houston Oilers, San Diego Chargers, and New York Giants.

After coaching stints at the college level, Brown joined the Cleveland Browns coaching staff from 2009 to 2012 and ultimately landed with the Dallas Cowboys from 2013 to 2019.

Most recently, Brown was running backs coach for the Wisconsin Badgers.
