The relationship between Kyrie Irving and Boston Celtics fans has been sour since the star guard left for the Brooklyn Nets.
On Sunday, Kyrie returned to Boston and was predictably met with taunts and boo birds from the crowd.
But that doesn’t seem to be bothering Irving who threw some incredible shade at the Celtics fan base for the way they reacted to his return.
“It’s like the scorned girlfriend who wants an explanation on why I left, but still hoping for a text back,” Irving said. “I’m just like, ‘It was fun while it lasted.'”
Irving did go on to say that he has a good relationship with his former teammates and praised the Celtics organization, but there is still plenty of obvious room for repair when it comes to the fans.
As for the game, Boston got to celebrate a 126-120 win over the visiting Nets led by a season-high 54 points from Jayson Tatum.
