Pro Football Hall Of Fame Announces Class Of 2022 Semifinalists

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its 26 semifinalists for the Class of 2022 on Wednesday.

The 26 modern-era players who are in the mix include 17 semifinalists from a year ago and 7 first-year eligible players. The first-year eligible players are Anquan Boldin, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, Robert Mathis, Steve Smith, DeMarcus Ware, and Vince Wilfork, according to the Pro Football Hall of Fame release.

A first-time semifinalist this year is former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George, who is in his third year of eligibility. Ricky Waters, meanwhile, is a semifinalist for the second time.

A total of 13 defensive players, 11 offensive players, and two special teamers make up the list. The most represented position is wide receiver, with 6 players including Steve Smith, Hines Ward, Reggie Wayne, and Torry Holt in the penultimate stage.

The group will be narrowed to 15 finalists before the final voting process takes place.
