Maxwell Award Player of the Week: QB Will Rogers, Mississippi State
Rogers threw for a school-record six TD passes… to lead the Bulldogs to bowl-eligibility and their largest comeback in school history… on the road at Auburn. Yeah, it was a game to remember for the accurate sophomore. Mississippi State was in trouble early at Jordan-Hare Stadium, trailing 28-3 at one point. But Rogers led his guys to 40 unanswered points, finishing 44-of-55 for 415 yards, no turnovers and those six scoring strikes.
Bednarik Award Player of the Week: DE Jermaine Johnson, Florida State
Johnson has taught a Masterclass this season on maximizing the transfer portal and betting on yourself. With reps coming at a premium at Georgia, he has blossomed in Tallahassee, both in the ACC and inside pro scouting circles. Johnson was the defensive star Saturday afternoon, as the Seminoles rallied to defeat rival Miami, 31-28, in the final minutes. The explosive 6-5, 262-pound Bednarik Award semifinalist wrecked the Hurricane backfield for seven stops, five tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble.
