A total of 16 players will be taking advantage of the NFL jersey number rule change for the upcoming season.

According to Football Morning in America’s Peter King, the list of players who are taking advantage of the rule change (16, for now) is mainly comprised of rookies.

Other players include veterans like Patrick Peterson and Emmanuel Sanders, who are joining new teams.

The list is mainly comprised of rookies because veterans would have had to buy up the unsold jerseys featuring their old numbers.

Along with running backs, defensive backs, and linebackers, the proposed rule change would also allow fullbacks, tight ends, H-backs, and wide receivers to wear single-digits.

Quarterbacks, punters, and kickers are still be required to wear numbers 1 to 19, linemen will still wear 50 to 79, and defensive linemen and linebackers can also wear 90 to 99
