We Have Ourselves A Good Old-Fashioned Super Bowl Mayor's Bet Featuring A Couple Rocky Statues

Ah, there’s nothing like a couple of old politicians laying down a little friendly wager on a game of pigskin. You guys have seen these before, they’ve been happening for years. Mayors want to get in on the action for the Super Bowl like the rest of America, but gambling happens to be illegal, so they dial their Batphone to the opposing mayor to offer some sort of localized bet to play to the morning news crowd.
This Super Bowl is no different. Here we have the Mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney, facing off against Brockton Mayor, Bill Carpenter. The wager? Well, it’s a little different than your average “wear the opposing team’s jersey to your next public appearance” bet.
This one involves a couple of Rocky statues. One, of course, being a fictional character created by Sly Stallone that the city worships. And the other a real person, who was the only heavyweight champ to retire undefeated. True symbols of these cities.

This is a mayor’s bet I’m all for. One of those Rocky’s is about to get disrespected. Rocky Balboa was already vandalized once this month by Vikings fans. I’m not sure the people of Philadelphia could handle that again.

We also have a brewery bet on the line

From Philly Mag:

Both Philly and Boston feeling that Super Bowl fever. And so are their hometown breweries, Yards Brewing Company and Harpoon Brewery, which have made a friendly wager around the outcome of the Eagles-Patriots showdown on February 4th.
The brewery whose home team claims victory will, of course, win bragging rights. And the brewery from the losing team’s city will have to pour the winning team’s beer in their taproom for an entire day — with staff wearing the winning team’s gear.
