The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense has taken on a new identity, fueled by an influx of Georgia Bulldogs that’s transformed their defensive line. What started with Jordan Davis’s selection in the 2022 NFL Draft has evolved into something special, with Nakobe Dean, Kelee Ringo, Jalen Carter, and Nolan Smith joining the ranks.

Davis’s journey in the NFL hasn’t been straightforward. Despite entering the league as a highly-touted physical specimen from Georgia, his first two seasons saw limited playing time. But things are changing — the Eagles’ deep defensive rotation has helped showcase his impact, even if the stats don’t tell the whole story.

The former Bulldog has made significant lifestyle changes to improve his performance. In a recent conversation with FanSided’s Cody Williams, Davis revealed his secret weapon: cutting out sugars and embracing the Peloton.

“I’ve been cutting out sugars, and I’ve been doing the Peloton, that’s been helping me,” Davis explained.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has noticed the difference in Davis’s conditioning this season.

What makes this Eagles defensive unit unique is the chemistry between its Georgia alumni. They’ve played together for seven years or more — a connection that Davis believes elevates their performance.

“It puts us in a different realm, and it’s a higher standard we hold ourselves to, not just as teammates, but as peers,” Davis shared.

These former Bulldogs bring a winning pedigree to Philadelphia, having claimed two National Championship trophies during their college careers. Their shared history has helped forge what’s now known as ‘The Philly Dawgs’ — a nickname that’s becoming increasingly fitting as their impact grows.

The bond between Davis and his Georgia teammates — particularly Carter and Smith — has created a support system that’s helped their transition to the NFL. It’s made everything from maintaining fitness to performing on the field more manageable.

That championship DNA they developed in Athens hasn’t gone unnoticed in Philadelphia, where they’re working to bring that same winning culture to the Eagles’ defense.
