The Las Vegas Raiders used to be a team known for their thrilling games and big wins. They won three Super Bowls and went to the AFC Championship 11 times in just 17 years. It was an exciting time for fans!
But then, things changed. A young quarterback named Tom Brady turned everything upside down for the Raiders on a snowy night at Foxboro Stadium. His overturned fumble and the subsequent Super Bowl loss sent the team into a downward spiral, and they haven’t quite bounced back since. By 2024, they were struggling as one of the NFL’s worst teams.
Now, Tom Brady is stepping in to help. As a minority owner, his role has been approved by NFL team owners, and he’s expected to play a big part in reviving the Raiders’ glory days. Could he be the key to turning things around?
On the “Scoop City” podcast, Dianna Russini from The Athletic shared that Raiders owner Mark Davis wants Brady to have a significant say in the team’s future plans this offseason. “Tom Brady is a minority owner and he’s going to be a part of this,” Russini said. “Mark Davis is very passionate about leaning on Tom Brady for thoughts, especially when they want to go pick a quarterback at some point here.”
Brady’s influence isn’t just limited to choosing a quarterback. He’ll also weigh in on decisions about head coach Antonio Pierce’s future. Pierce took over after Josh McDaniels was fired in 2023. Russini added, “What I’ve learned recently is that it’s not just going to be Tom Brady’s thoughts on the quarterback position … but really, how involved Tom Brady is going to be in all regards, in everything that has to do with the Las Vegas Raiders.”
Mark Davis envisions Brady having a much larger role, potentially overseeing football operations above both the general manager and head coach. This ambition was reported by Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Yet, whether Brady can replicate his success as a player in an executive role remains uncertain. After all, he won’t be throwing touchdowns or staging comebacks from the owner’s suite.
