If you’re a 40-year-old quarterback in the NFL, how do you get along with your younger teammates? Do you tell them stories about the good old days or maybe share how things were different back then? Well, Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Jets, tried that approach during his regular chat on The Pat McAfee Show.
“When I was a young player, schedule used to be mid-March. That gave you a lot of chances to learn. Now players don’t come until six weeks later, so you’re behind. And now guys want to talk about video games and social media posts,” Rodgers said.
It’s kinda funny, right? Here’s a guy who went on a darkness retreat and spends hours on a podcast instead of watching game tapes. But hey, to each their own!
Rodgers might have a point—back in 2005, TikToks and video games weren’t really a thing for NFL players. But blaming teammates for chatting about non-football stuff? That’s just silly. Leaders don’t do that; they take responsibility. Yet, this is pretty much what you’d expect from Rodgers, especially given this rocky season for him and the Jets.
Aaron Rodgers isn’t off the hook for the Jets’ struggles. Sure, the team has talent, but with a 3-7 record, they’re not doing great. Some of these issues trace back to Rodgers’ shaky performance this season. He’s thrown 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions—not terrible but not what the Jets hoped for.
When the season wraps up, don’t be surprised if the Jets consider other quarterbacks for 2025. This trial run hasn’t panned out.
Maybe banning Instagram in the locker room could help. What do you think, Aaron?
