The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned this weekend with UFC Vegas 78 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the main event of the night, Vicente Luque and Rafael dos Anjos went head-to-head in a welterweight bout. The co-main event, meanwhile, featured a featherweight showdown between Hakeen Dawodu and Cub Swanson.

When it was all said and done, it was Luque and Swanson who capped off the night with two upset victories. Luque earned his win with some dominant control, while Swanson earned a controversial decision.

But the real story was earlier in the night.

To kick off UFC Vegas 78, there were seven straight finishes — with six coming in the first round. Included in the finishes was a dominant performance from up-and-comer Luana Santos, and only the third twister in UFC history courtesy of Da’Mon Blackshear.

With Khalil Rountree’s first-round knockout on the main card, UFC Vegas 78 tied a promotional record for the most first-round finishes in an event.
