Plenty of people have looked at casino dealers, and thought about how cool it looks. It’s in a swanky place with plenty of money around. It also allows people the opportunity to mix with some of the richest and most famous people in the world. But, despite the superficial benefits that it offers, does it actually pay well enough to provide people with a comfortable living? We have taken a closer look into the world of casino dealers.
Differences and Similarities Between Online and Land Based Casino Dealers
There are actually a large number of similarities between online and land-based casino dealers, in terms of the job conditions they have to take on board. However, there are a few big differences. Firstly, there are a lot more opportunities for online casino dealers, due to the sheer number of online venues on the market. You can find your designated site here, and see just how many there are around.
Secondly, working at an online casino, means that the dealer doesn’t have to deal directly with people. So, if there are players who are troublesome, the dealer is less likely to be involved in any kind of physical interactions and is therefore a lot safer.
Finally, online casino dealers have much more choice when it comes to available shifts. This is due to online casinos being open around the clock and providing much more flexibility.
Other than that, there’s not a huge amount of differences between the two positions.
How much do Casino Dealers Earn?
To put it simply, casino dealers are paid a minimum wage by casinos. This means that as long as they work full-time hours, they will earn around $20,000 per year. While this isn’t a huge amount of money, there is the potential to earn significantly more.
The way this happens, is through tipping. When a player manages to grab a big win, it’s often customary that they will give a tip to the dealer. On top of this, when leaving the table, many players will tip the dealer regardless of how the game went for them. It means that often up to 80% of the dealer’s salary is made up of tips. This shows just how generous some tippers can be.
So, a very successful casino dealer, could potentially make upwards of $100,000 per year. As this is a job that doesn’t require a huge amount of education, this is a fantastic salary. However, it should be noted, that dealers at VIP and high stakes tables will have the potential to grab significantly higher tips. So, low stakes dealers would be unlikely to make significant earnings. However, even on lower stakes tables, it’s still possible for a good quality dealer to walk away with more than $40,000 per year.
