I want you PR majors to go read the Lincoln University game recap from the school’s 90-0 loss Saturday to Virginia Union. It’s a piece of art. Never mentions that the Lions lost 90-0. There are just some details you leave out of the history books, like the fact that the Lions gave up 34 4th quarter points and ran its record to 0-6. That’s how you don’t make things worse for a team that is obviously struggling.
PR 101.
As for Virginia Union, it had 494 yards rushing; 10 guys got carries; two quarterbacks played. It was one of those days. Everything clicked. As for records that fell, VU scored 13 touchdowns – a school record.
Other notes for Virginia Union in a 90-0 win:
• Recorded the most points of any Virginia Union team in a game since a 1916 contest against Saint Paul’s College
• School-record 494 yards rushing
• Nine rushing touchdowns, school record
Not going to lie here, I need to see the highlight video to see if Lincoln was even attempting to make a tackle during that 4th quarter. There’s no way the effort could’ve been there and then give up five touchdowns. Just don’t believe it. Sure, that defense has now been outscored 301-20 through six games but still.
Also, it might be time to think about canceling the football program. I’m not an expert, but things just aren’t going very well with the team. Time to take a break for a couple years.
Lincoln hasn’t won a game since September 10, 2016.
