Pretty much the only thing left for Mets fans to look forward to this season is a September call up for 30-year-old prospect Tim Tebow, but now they can’t even have that.

Because bad things just happen to the Mets in droves, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Tebow could be out for the season with a broken hamate bone in his right hand:

The injury occurred last Thursday during the Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ game against the Trenton Thunder. WBNG’s Tyler Feldman reported Tebow felt hand and wrist discomfort after taking a swing in the seventh inning:

“Tim [Tebow] came out of the game not feeling good after a swing,” said Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas. “He’s going to get checked by the doctor [Friday] morning, and we have to see how his status is going to be. It’s a hand/wrist thing. I think there was one swing where he let go the bottom hand and the top hand finished his swing. He said that he felt something there. We don’t know right now. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow and find out what he has when he gets checked by our doctor in town.”

Tebow recently made waves for crashing the Double-A All-Star game. He owns a somewhat surprising .273/.336/.399 slash line with six home runs this season — impressive numbers for someone who hadn’t played baseball in years.

This downer Tebow news comes on the heels of ace Noah Syndergaard going down with a case of hand, foot, and mouth disease. The Mets curse truly cannot be stopped.
