Huge news out of the NFL this afternoon that somehow has zero to do with the NFL draft. Jason Witten is reportedly planning to retire and jump straight into the broadcast booth like his old buddy Tony Romo.
Last night, Witten was on stage as one of Roger Goodell’s boo buffers, along with Aikman and Staubach, but not even they could stop that barrage. However, looking back it probably should have been a sign to Cowboys fans that this thing was over.
Jason Witten is planning to retire after 15 years to join ESPN's new Monday Night Football broadcast team as a lead analyst but will meet today with owner Jerry Jones before making his decision final, per sources.

This is apparently all unofficial until Witten gets a blessing from Jerry Jones, so unless Jerry locks him in his party bus for 3 months until training camp rolls around, you can expect Witten in the MNF booth next year with Joe Tessitore and possibly someone else.
Also, shout out to all the fantasy owners like me who leaned on Witten as a late round pick when you forgot to draft a tight end. It was a good run.
A real shame I can’t draft Witten to my fantasy team after forgetting a TE for the 10th year in a row https://t.co/TqfGnrlq1t
