Dana White Says Conor McGregor's Meltdown Was Not A Stunt

This sure sounds like something someone would say if they’re pulling a huge stunt in order to get a little buzz on a weekend dominated by the Masters. Remember, UFC 223 is supposed to be the biggest UFC fight card of the year and it had no juice until Conor and his crew of Irishmen showed up and started destroying shit. Now everybody is talking about this.

But now that we’re almost a day removed, I think I actually believe Dana. When the videos first started coming out yesterday afternoon, I 100% thought this was a stunt. I thought it was a PR ploy by the UFC and McGregor to get people talking about this fight. It almost seemed too obvious. But when more details started coming out, along with Conor turning himself in and officially getting charged, I think that goes out the window.
From the NY Post:

MMA star Conor McGregor was charged early Friday with assault and criminal mischief for his rampage at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, police said.
McGregor, 29, and his friend Cian Cowley, 25, turned themselves in to the NYPD’s 78th Precinct in Park Slope on Thursday night.

The outburst allegedly was caused by McGregor’s anger over the news he would be stripped of his lightweight championship after the fight between the other contenders.
Cowley, a member of McGregor’s entourage, was charged with assault and criminal mischief, police said.
The men are expected to be arraigned Friday in Brooklyn court.

But let me say this, don’t tell me Dana White isn’t THRILLED with what happened. Yeah, his biggest star may be in some legal trouble, but Conor just got him more publicity than he could’ve dreamed of before this weekend. Now Dana is going on every morning debate show he can this morning to talk about it.
Don’t tell me he doesn’t love this.
