Australian, Lithuanian & South African Minor Leaguers Brawl Outside A Toledo Bar

The Toledo Mud Hens might be 15.5 games out of first place in the International League Western Division, but at least they finished the season by being interesting off the field after a wild early morning brawl outside a downtown Toledo bar at 2:40 a.m. I’ll keep this story pretty short: Mud Hens pitcher Warwick Saupold (Australian), Indians pitcher Dovydas Neverauskas (Lithuanian) and Indians infielder Gift Ngoepe (South African) were arrested for their parts. Saupold and Ngoepe went to the county jail for assault. Neverauskas went for resisting arrest and misconduct.
This has to be the first time an all-foreign MiLB brawl has taken place outside a Toledo bar. How strange!

Here’s Dovydas Neverauskas’ face after the fracas:

Warwick Saupold, of Perth, Australia, finished off his 2016 in strong fashion…guy can throw a punch and had a 2.30 ERA in 18 games for the Mud Hens.
