MLB didn’t let Pete Rose back into baseball because he still bets on baseball?
Oh, OK. So it has nothing to do with the fact that Rob Manfred wasn’t going to overturn the deal that Giamatti & Rose signed back in 1989 or whenever that all went down? (I’ve lost track of time.) Of course he wasn’t going to overturn something so monumental. This is baseball. It holds on to the past more than any other sport. It wouldn’t matter if Pete Rose went into Manfred’s office & announced that he donated $10 million to rebuild baseball fields in the Caribbean and that he hasn’t bet on baseball since the late 1980s. Baseball executives think Pete is a scumbag & he has stained the game. That stain’s never going away. Don’t forget, Manfred, in September, rejected Shoeless Joe Jackson from being reinstated. Like they were going to reinstate Pete.
