Bruce Rondon, a Tigers reliever during the summer, went nuts Saturday night on Jose Osuna, a Pirates prospect, during a Venezuela winter league game. The big news here for me is that there are so many empty seats in that outfield section. Here I thought the fans in the Caribbean really, really loved their baseball. Looks like they’re getting lazy and watching at home like us lazy Americans.
Rondon, according to MLive.com, “was sent home by the Detroit Tigers during the final month of the 2015 season due to a lack of effort and does not have a lock on a roster spot for the 2016 season.” Looks like the guy will be good to go if Brad Ausmus needs a guy to throw a retaliation pitch.
