Bird Struck By Foul Ball Off the Bat of Tigers Catcher James McCann

Apparently bad luck on Friday the 13th doesn’t just apply to humans.
During the first inning of Friday’s Tigers-Braves game, catcher James McCann (of the Tigers) hit a foul ball that nailed a bird chilling on the netting. You can see video of incident via WDIV Local 4:

If you look closely at the picture, you can see some scattered feathers and the bird falling:

According to MLive, the bird survived, while umpire Joe West got a big kick out of the whole thing:

The bird is believed to have survived, according to an announcement made over the stadium speakers later in the game…
“(West) said he didn’t know what was funnier,” McCann said, “seeing the bird get hit or the woman’s reaction when it landed in her lap.”

Oddly enough, this bird was hit 11 days before the anniversary of Randy Johnson’s epic bird blowup.
