The Niagara women’s basketball team’s ordeal on the New York State Thruway is over thanks to a rescue effort from the New York State Police. Stuck for over 24 hours on the team bus, police finally made it to the team late last night and transported them to safety via a SWAT vehicle. Some areas of Buffalo where the team was stranded received 70″+ of snow with another two feet expected later tonight.
From NECN:
“It started to get bad fast at about 2 a.m. (Tuesday morning) and we came to a dead stop and haven’t moved since,” Niagara coach Kendra Faustin told The Associated Press in a phone interview Tuesday night. “It was a rough weekend for us on the court and it just won’t end.”
The all clear tweet from the team went out at 4:23 this morning. The ladies get back to playing Saturday against the University of Buffalo.
