By now you know that Kansas lost in the Elite Eight for the second straight year as a #1 seed. That also means that this is four years in a row now that Kansas has failed to make the Final Four, all with really good teams. Somehow now the Jayhawks have become a joke in the tournament over the course of recent history and Bill Self is starting to get more and more criticism.
With another early loss it means thatĀ fans weren’t going to happy, so the Lawrence Police Department was ready to roll last night in case any peopleĀ decided to take their anger out across the town. They also managed to slide in some savage burns on Twitter.
It all started with this one
Well, at least we have a lot of experience dealing with fans after an #Elite8 loss. Get home safely Jayhawk fans. #DriveSober

And then the rest of the night unfolded like this
Only 1 disturbance reported so far. Pretty somber mood downtown. No streakers. #GrieveSafely #DriveSober

An intoxicated guy tried to pull a tree out of the ground. His friend carried him off before he could succeed. It's not the trees fault man

Officers arrived on a disturbance downtown before it could escalate. Guys, we're all sad but the cops downtown didn't disappear. Stay classy

Also we're a police department, not a basketball team
— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) March 26, 2017
Downtown is mostly cleared out. We are resuming normal patrol operations, and signing off for the night.

Thanks for following us, sorry we couldn't do this again next weekend. That's ok, we'll do it again next year, and maybe rush mass st again.
— Lawrence Police (@LawrenceKS_PD) March 26, 2017
It turned out to be a quiet night in Lawrence.
