Top Cleveland Guardians prospect George Valera, who is the No. 2 player in the team’s system, sparked a benches-clearing incident on Thursday night during a game between the Columbus Clippers and Nashville Sound.
The 22-year-old Valera stepped to the plate in the third inning when he began exchanging words with Sounds catcher Alex Jackson. After the two came face to face, the ump behind home plate stepped between the two which led Valera to lose his cool and shove the ump before benches cleared.
