The 2023 NFL Draft is set to kick off on Thursday, April 27, and run through Saturday, April 29. The festivities — which will air on ESPN, ABC, and the NFL Network — will be held in the plaza outside of Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri.
With one day until the draft kicks off, there has been plenty of speculation about who the No. 1 overall pick will be. The odds and experts say the Carolina Panthers will likely select Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, but Kentucky’s Will Levis has been gaining momentum — thanks to a wild Reddit rumor.
But what do the people think?
The folks at BetOnline.ag analyzed geo-tagged keyword association Twitter data over the past week, tracking key phrases, hashtags, and player names to determine who each state thought would be this year’s top pick.
For example, tweets with “#NFLDraft,” “Number 1 pick,” “#FirstPick,” “No. 1 overall pick,” “first overall pick,” and more, were used in the survey.
More than 130,000 tweets were used for the study.
When it was all said and done, Alabama’s Bryce Young edged out Will Levis of Kentucky. Ohio State’s CJ Stroud was one state below Levis, with all three players coming within five states of each other. Of course, Young was favored by Alabama, Levis by Kentucky, and Stroud by Ohio.
A full breakdown can be seen below.
- Bryce Young – 19 states (including Alabama)
- Will Levis – 16 states (including Kentucky)
- C.J. Stroud – 15 states (including Ohio)
