It’s that time of year. With the college football season just around the corner, Phil Steele has released his annual college football season preview. With that preview comes the release of Steele’s preseason top 25 rankings.
While the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers are mainstays at the top of the rankings, along with last season’s runner-up Ohio State.
All three teams find themselves near the top of Steele’s 2021 rankings, but there is a new No. 1 team in the nation. According to Steele, the Oklahoma Sooners should be considered the best team in college football as we prepare for the new season.
“The schedule is very manageable with the toughest tests away from home being Texas and Oklahoma State,” Steele wrote. “I know Riley is 0-3 in the Playoff, but this time he has a complete team and finally breaks through, giving Oklahoma their first national championship since 2000!”
Rounding out the top five is the Georgia Bulldogs.
