Vanessa Bryant is not happy with Nike after a sneaker that she designed in honor of her late daughter Gigi has been leaked online.
Vanessa created the tribute version of a Kobe 6 Protro which featured Gianna’s No. 2, a butterfly, wings, and a halo along with “Gigi” inscribed under Kobe’s Mamba logo.
However, Vanessa says the shoe should never have been created because she never renewed Kobe’s deal with Nike in the spring.
Yet, the sneakers appeared in someone else’s hands online and Vanessa is understandably not pleased.

“If someone can share how they have these shoes in their possession, that would be great because my daughters and I don’t have any of Gigi’s MAMBACITA shoes,” she continued.
Nike clearly manufactured the shoes to sell. Not only did the sneakers leak in the hands of someone else, but another Instagram user had professional photos.
“I just want to make it clear that I don’t own a pair of those Mambacita Kobes,” Instagram user brandon1an said. “The pictures I posted are official product pictures from a Nike authorized retailer.
“Unfortunately for [Vanessa Bryant], Nike clearly sent pairs to this retailer (as well as others) with the intent of selling pairs.”
Nike has yet to comment on the situation, but they clearly have some explaining to do.
