Tyson-Holyfield III Feels Like It’s About To Happen

Tyson-Holyfield III?

Tyson-Holyfield III?

It’s starting to feel like we’re about to get Tyson-Holyfield III if Instagram videos are any indication of what’s to come. Last night Evander Holyfield’s IG posted a video of the former champ in the gym and grinding. “My 1st week back in the gym and I feel great. I’m looking forward to stepping up my training sessions and intensity as I prepare for my fight,” Holyfield’s social media manager said in the caption. Holyfield recently told Sky Sports he wants a third meeting with Iron Mike.

Meanwhile, Tyson’s back in the gym training and saying he’s ready to get back in the ring. The violent gym training sessions are back and it appears we’re headed for a major announcement very soon from both of these guys. Tyson said in April he’d be down for 3 or 4 round exhibitions with the money going to charity.

“I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff,” Tyson said. “Some charity exhibitions, make some money, help some homeless and drug-affected mother-f—– like me.”

Tyson turns 54 in June while Holyfield turns 58 in October. Iron Mike hasn’t fought since losing to Kevin McBride in 2005 and his last victory came in 2003 vs. Clifford Etienne. Holyfield’s last fight came in 2011, a TKO of Brian Nielsen. You might remember the last time Tyson and Holyfield met. That was 1997 when Mike bit off part of Evander’s ear and resulted in back-to-back loses.

Now, when does it make the most sense to hold the third meeting between these two? Vegas isn’t exactly reopening right now. Do they fight without fans and make it some PPV type thing like the UFC did a week ago? That makes the most sense here. Sales will be through the roof. July? Let these guys get into shape. Or does August make the most sense? It feels like this has to happen relatively fast since you run the risk of one of these guys pulling a muscle or getting gout. Anything is possible at this age.

I’ll say July 11. That gives these guys 6-7 weeks to get ready, you do a PR campaign around July 4, people are desperate for action since baseball isn’t coming back and people go absolutely bonkers July 11 for Tyson-Holyfield III.
