BYU pole vaulter Zach McWhorter is now known as the guy who impaled his scrotum on a pole vaulting pole — not sure what that call that thing other than a pole — and it sent his TikTok over 100k likes almost instantly as word spread that he’s the guy who ripped open his ballsack. But don’t worry, this nutsack impaling happened so long ago that he’s in the scar on the nutsack stage of life.
The 21-year-old was having a pretty typical training session at the BYU track — recording it to post on TikTok — when disaster struck.
At first, it seemed like a standard jump … but McWhorter’s pole didn’t fall the way it supposed to and essentially impaled his scrotum.
McWhorter says 18 stitches back in September put the nutsack back together and life has gone on. Tiktok came along and Zach knows what content you guys want to see so he dumped it out. Smart kid!
Here’s a twist to all this, according to KUTV — Zach’s dad is the pole vaulting coach and he’s a urologist. It pays to have a dad who specializes in that part of the body standing there recording when you rip your sack. “I started screaming to my dad things I probably shouldn’t repeat, but basically about my scrotum — that there was a hole in it.”
POLE VAULTER SNAGS SCROTUM:
“There was a hole in it.”
Today, BYU pole vaulter Zach McWhorter laughs about this very private injury.
His dad is his coach & ironically also a urologist who quickly stitched up the injury.
