Skip Bayless and his wife Ernestine Bayless sat down with Fox 11 in Los Angeles to talk about her new book, Balls: How to keep your relationship alive when you live with a sports-obsessed guy, and dish on what it’s like to live with Mr. Hot Take, which it sounds like it’s not the easiest thing for a woman when the guy tells you on the first date he’s married to the takes.
But Ernestine made a pros and cons list about being with Skip and said him knowing every single episode of I Love Lucy was a big turn-on and she learned what to say and what not to say to FS1’s bad boy. We also learned that Skip told her early on that, “if this goes anywhere, you’ll always be 1A to my job. I’m married to my job.”
As if that wasn’t a rough start to the relationship, Ernestine isn’t allowed to say certain things that could jinx a game and Skip says they fought for three days after she interrupted the Patriots-Chiefs AFC Championship game to give him a piece of mail just as Tom Brady was throwing an interception in the end zone.
But Ernestine, who didn’t watch sports before Skip, is now an NBA fan “because I can see their faces.” Sounds like these two have one of those strong marriages that you always hear about in the marriage handbook.
Just look into his soul and you’ll clearly see a guy who’s married to the take game. Day in, day out…all about the takes and how to fire up the take engine and keep pumping them out. Deep down you can tell he has no idea why he got married. Guaranteed he lawyered up and Ernestine signed a pre-nup. A long one with a bunch of rules.
