How would you react if you were working on the chain gang during your son’s football game and he was injured during a tackle you deemed to be a little uncalled for? Would you (allegedly) go onto the field and slap the kid who made the tackle? That’s what police allege happened during a Little League football game this weekend when Tuscaloosa dentist Marcus Dempsey took things (allegedly) into his own hands and confronted the kid.
From the Tuscaloosa Police Department:
On October 4, 2018, the Tuscaloosa Police Department was alerted to an incident that occurred at Sokol Park during a PARA Little League Football Game. Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Juvenile Division conducted an investigation into the allegations of harassment against (Marcus) Dempsey, 43 years old of Northport, AL. Dempsey was working as one of the chain crew during the game when he observed that his son had been injured during a tackle. Dempsey walked onto the field and slapped a player of the opposing team causing him to stumble backwards.
On November 5, 2018, Dempsey was arrested on a charge of Harassment, processed then released on a $300 bond.
According to a local TV reporter, the player he slapped turned out not to be the kid who tackled his son. Maybe the kid deserved it. Guess what we really need here is video of the incident. Someone has to have that footage.
From Dempsey’s dental practice site:
Dr. Marcus A. Dempsey graduated in 1997 from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. In 2002 he graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.
