Well, I guess we can scratch off one name for potential Urban Meyer replacements if he does get fired after this Zach Smith investigation is over. Tom Herman is apparently out here doing some Godfather shit. Taking down your former team and mentor while at another big-time program by tipping off Brett McMurphy is something straight out of the Michael Corleone playbook. Recruiting is a gotdamn war and sometimes this is what it takes to win.
Now obviously, this is alleged. But this is coming from an Ohio State insider – Jeff Snook – who is apparently well-sourced around the program. This isn’t Bob in Columbus writing on his Facebook page. Here is his full report:

So Michelle Herman and Courtney Smith are good friends, Tom Herman was pissed that he lost out on a reciever recruit in his own backyard of Texas, so he decided to take down the program from the inside. Incredible. We have to imagine there’s more to come from this. Herman’s not going to be able to just dodge these questions at his next presser.
College football, man. The best reality show there is.

UPDATE: McMurphy responds
For those who have asked for my response to Jeff Snook’s claim Saturday: “I have never revealed my sources in my nearly four decade journalistic career & I am not going to start now. However, I will say unequivocally that Tom Herman was not my source.”
