Cards OF Tyler O’Neill Is On The DL With A Non-Baseball Groin Injury

Cardinals fans hoping to see Tyler O’Neill play more with Tommy Pham out of the picture will have to wait a bit. The buff AF Canadian was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a mysterious groin injury that is “not a baseball injury” and “not a muscular injury” according to MLB.com’s Joe Trezza:

Per Girsch, O’Neill is suffering from a “groin condition” — officially labeled left groin inflammation — that “flared up” this weekend in Pittsburgh. O’Neill received treatment on Monday for the condition, which Girsch said is not chronic and does not require an operation.

“I’m not going to tell you what he’s dealing with, because I can’t explain it exactly,” Girsch said.

The injury first came to light Saturday when O’Neill was scratched with groin discomfort.
