Sadly Vanessa Bryant Says Kobe Is Not Coming Out Of Retirement

Low key, the story of the summer isn’t LeBron James taking his talents to Los Angeles. It’s been this excellent (and totally baseless) rumor that 39-year-old Kobe Bryant, who was last seen jacking up 50 shots a game during his final season, would come out of retirement to join this Lakers team loaded with degenerates, interesting young pieces, an outspoken father, and LeBron. Need I remind you the man just won a goddamn Oscar.

The notion of a Kobe comeback is downright silly, but it really has been a thing. Matt Barnes said it would be “dope,” ESPN’s Domonique Foxworth somehow believes he’d be a “valuable teacher,” and Shaq claims it’s going down.

Spoiler: It’s not, and Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram during her Cabo trip to shoot down the dreams of Kobe stans everywhere. Her IG comment to a fan:

Kobe will not be coming out of retirement to play again. He doesn’t want to play again and frankly we really enjoy spending time together as a family without the crazy game schedule interfering with birthdays, holidays and special events

There you have it. Kobe is a family man and will not be returning to get his ass whooped by the Warriors potentially eight times this season.
