A LOT has happened to Lamar Odom since the last time he stepped on a professional basketball court. So much that I’ll probably forget something when I list everything off here. Let’s see, after his last year with the Lakers in 2013, his Kardashian marriage was in full force, then he got a DUI, then Khloe filed for divorce, then he almost died at Nevada brothel which prompted Khloe to hold off the divorce, then he recovered and bravely spoke about his addictions, then Khloe finalized the divorce, and somewhere in there Stephen A called him a crack head on national television.
Now, at age 38, he’s making his return to basketball in China. What a roller coaster ride this has been.
This is what he said on Instagram:
I have some good news to share with you on this beautiful day from The Netherlands. My heart literally warms up now I can finally share with you all that I’m returning to play Basketball. I will be playing in China ! God is good ! Thanks lord for giving me another chance in life and thank you fans for your the love and support during all those hard years. Never give up on yourself and keep believing that only god can create the miracles you’re hoping for. Basketball and my children have always been the light in my life and this is where my focus is right now. Thank you @mr2rchiang and @iamzoul for believing in me and the opportunity to start over again! Thank you @starburymarbury for being my inspiration 🙏🏿🏆❤️ LETS GOO ! #china#basketball #yes
And who does he credit for this return? None other than the Chinese basketball GOAT, Stephon Marbury. Not sure there’s a better person to look at for inspiration towards a basketball comeback in China than Marbury. Remember, after this guy flamed out in the NBA, Starbury went over to China and immediately became a God there. He got himself a handful of rings under his belt, a statue put up while he was still playing, and essentially became their Michael Jordan.
No word on what team Odom will play for yet, but I’m sure that information will become available soon.
