Former Canton McKinley High School PE teacher Tiffany Eichler risked it all to have sex with a number of male students, and she paid dearly Tuesday as a judge sentenced her to 30 days in jail. Avoiding years in prison was obviously a major win, but there is much more to Eichler’s sentence than a month in jail (via Cleveland 19):
The full sentence includes:
30 days in the Stark County Jail
30 half days at the jail – after the first 30 is completed.
300 hours of community service
3 years probation
She must also register as a Tier 3 sex offender for the rest of her life
Give up her teaching license
Pay for the boys counseling
Pay a $1000 fine and write an apology
According to the Canton Rep, Eichler, who was arrested back in March, had sex with two 18-year-old students and one 17-year-old student in February:
Police reports, which are redacted, show police interviewed Eichler on Thursday. She told detectives about multiple instances of sexual conduct with students: In one case, she and a student drove to a park and got in the backseat of her vehicle. In another, she said she engaged in sexual conduct with a student twice in one evening — once in the back of her vehicle and later in his basement. That same student later “reached out to her and told her that he had (redacted)” and then requested $180 for an antibiotic, according to the police report.
Eichler, 36, is married and a mother of four children. The judge in this case, John Haas, doesn’t see her reoffending after being punished and shamed for her actions.
