J.J. Watt Still Lives In Humble Houston House After Signing $100M Contract

J.J. Watt is so humble that the guy hasn’t moved from the house he bought in 2011 with his rookie contract money — yet. That could all change now that Watt has signed a six-year contract that could pay him $100 million. The guy might be able to upgrade from his Pearland, Texas house that only has a two-car garage and a boring backyard. You might remember way back in 2012 when we reported that Watt spent $400,000 on this 4 bed, 3 1/2 bath house with 4,000 sq. ft. of living space.
The place isn’t huge, doesn’t have land to hide from neighbors and he has to hear children going nuts in the cul-de-sac.
Watt will receive a $51.876 in guaranteed money over the six years. That should be more than enough for Watt to upgrade…if he puts aside his humbleness and decides to go bigger. The guy says he’s not about the money.
He remained humble at Tuesday’s press conference to announce the deal:

“Money doesn’t motivate me, greatness does,” Watt said. “I’m so fortunate I don’t have to worry about the money, so I can focus on the greatness.”
“I’m just a kid from Pewaukee, Wisconsin … who had big dreams who worked hard and who had a great support system around him.”

Zillow now has an estimate of $389,137 on J.J.’s house. If he remains in this house for at least another year it’ll prove that this guy really is one of the most humble mega-athletes in sports. It’s not like he’s slumming it, but it must be nice to sleep in on Monday’s in October and not hear your neighbor mowing his grass with a push mower.
