Our old real estate friend Neal Leitereg at the LA Times reported on Tuesday that Magglio Ordonez had listed his monster Fort Lauderdale mansion for $4.399 million and the first thing I thought upon seeing the back yard was that his kids must be miserable. Where is the yard? Green grass? A place to roll around? A place to throw baseballs? I’m thinking Mags and his wife came to the conclusion that they can’t keep living in this 8,115 sq. ft. pile of glass and rich without having some yard to go with the pool.
So you sell the place. The guy made $133,470,746 during his MLB career, I think he can find some extra cash laying around to buy a place with an actual yard.
According to his realtor:
Located in the prestige neighborhood of Las Olas, this home features a gourmet chef’s kitchen, family room, bar, formal dining room, spa, his and hers master bathrooms, master suite, oversized guest rooms, office and an elevator. Unique features include custom woodwork and cabinetry, detailed iron work and stained glass windows. The home boasts outdoor features like summer kitchen, spa, pool and dock that can accommodate up to an 80-foot yacht.
And no mention of grass. Oooooooh, you can dock an 80-foot yacht in the backyard. Yeah, that’s what old people with kids in college enjoy.
Other Highlights Of Magglio’s House Include:
• 6 bedrooms, 7 full baths; 1 half-bath
• An office you’ll never actually use, but you’ll love showing to people who’ll think you use it
• A terrible billiards room; lack of room to make side rail shots
Mortgage: You’re looking at $16,700 or so a month before taxes, a pool guy and someone to wash your windows
