Dani Mathers, Playboy’s Miss May 2014, On Guys, Guns and Body Shots

Dani Mathers discovered Playboy at a young age: four, to be exact.

“My parents had family friends who were nudists. We’d go over to their house all the time, and they always had Playboy magazines laying around,” Mathers said from Southern California on Wednesday morning.

“It wasn’t a big deal; when everyone is naked it’s less of an issue. I was fascinated by Playboy as a kid. They all said: ‘Maybe one day you’ll be in that magazine.’ Well…” Mathers said with a laugh.

The 27-year-old actress was named Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for May 2014 after earlier turns as a Playboy CyberGirl of the Month, and on Playboy TV’s Badass and Playboy Trip: Patagonia.

Mathers also has a recurring role as ‘Danica’ on CBS soap The Bold and the Beautiful. She has roles in two upcoming feature films: Neighbors, which opens May 9, and Let’s Be Cops, which will hit theaters August 13.

“I’ve been acting a long time. I’m hoping that being named Playmate could lead to a host opportunity on a talk show or something like that, but I’m going to enjoy the time I have as Miss May.”

Mathers, whose eye-popping physical dimensions are listed as 5’1″, 100 lbs. and 33D-22-31 in the new issue of Playboy, talked with Busted Coverage about guys, her love of guns and how she’d use the world’s last lime.

Have any of your male fans admitted to discovering you through “The Bold & The Beautiful?”

“Yes! It’s actually surprising. My male fans will mention it, but it’s never my female fans. It’s daytime TV; something you’d see at your grandma’s house.”

Soap operas have been full of sex and scandalous behavior for decades. Have you ever wanted to do a nude scene on the show?

“When I started 10 years ago, they used to show more than they do now. It’s not really like that anymore; it’s more about people being vindictive or dramatic. HBO takes the lead with nudity and sex.”

Which athletes or celebrities have been hitting on you since your involvement with Playboy? Has anyone been surprisingly creepy or nice?

“You know, when we are at the Mansion, you feel on the same level as the celebrities and other people you meet there. We don’t take pictures of — or with — people often. It’s their time not to be a celebrity, and I think that’s one of the things they like about the Mansion.”

“Two people whom I have met who were really sweet were Pamela Anderson and Jenna Jameson. They’re both very family oriented and very normal, which is maybe not what most people would expect of such sex symbols.”

You’re 5’1″. Do guys literally try to pick you up? How do you handle flirty bros?

“I’ve had a problem since I was little of people just picking me up and putting me places (laughs). I’m hoping it stops soon. As for guys, I just turn it around on them if they’re being too flirty; I make them feel awkward. I try to diffuse those situations with humor.”

We saw on your social media profile that you were at the Lucas Oil Off Road Series at Lake Elsinore (Calif.) recently. Are you into racing more than team sports?

“I love racing. I was there working for General Tire. I call those guys ‘motorheads.’ I think they are adrenaline junkies. They accept the fact that they could die at any moment. It’s thrilling to be around them.”

Do you attend other sporting events? Which is your favorite of the L.A. teams?

“I’ve always liked the L.A. Kings, but they’ve not been very good until recently. It’s been cool to watch everyone discovering the team as it’s started winning championships. I used to go to Lakers games, too, back when the team was good… I’m not much on Kobe, but when Sasha Vujacic and those guys were fun to watch.”

We also spied you at the shooting range. What are you packing, and how often do you go?

“I’ve been shooting for a long time. I used to shoot clay pigeons with my best friend, but I decided to take the plunge and buy a real gun: a Springfield 40 XD. I love it. I go to Oak Tree Gun Club in Newhall (California) all the time. It’s a great stress reliever. Some people go to the gym, or do jiu jitsu or run; I shoot guns.”

Tell us about your beach pictorial in Cabo for the issue. Are you still finding sand in, uh, private places?

“(Laughs) Yes! In my mouth and in my teeth. Most centerfolds are not shot on-location anymore, so we really tried to take advantage of being there. It was amazing. I am ecstatic over how the shots turned out.”

What’s the most unusual place you’ve found yourself naked?

“That’s easy: in a bi-plane. We were doing a taping for Playboy TV’s show Badass. So this 1930s-1940s plane is flying along and I’m butt naked in the plane (laughs). That was different.”

As Miss May, will you celebrate Cinco de Mayo? What’s your worst tequila story?

“Tequila? You mean to-kill-ya? I really don’t have one. I think you’re supposed to only drink tequila in Mexico so you don’t have to worry about bringing the story back with you.”

Are you aware of the world’s lime shortage?

“What? Really? I was not aware.”

Well, as we hear it, the world is almost out of limes. It’s a big issue this close to Cinco de Mayo. If there was just one lime left in the world, how would you use it: in guacamole, a key lime pie or a margarita?

“Ok. I’d split it in half. I’d definitely use half to make guacamole; that’s a good call. I’d cut the other half in quarters so that my friends and I could do body shots. Does that work?”

It does. Not down with key lime pie?

“I really don’t have much of a sweet tooth. I’d rather do the body shot.”
