Bridget, the Fox Sports Girl of the Week, is the newest face on Fox Sports Ohio and couldn’t be happier with her job.
“I’ve always been an athlete and a huge sports fan so being a Fox Sports Girl is a dream come true. The live interaction and being that connection to the fans is so much fun. It’s amazing to represent Ohio and share the excitement for Ohio sports. Ohio truly has the best fans ever,” she said.
She’ll have her eyes on FOX Saturday night when Ohio State travels to Berkeley to face Cal at 7 p.m.
Who is your favorite athlete?
If I would have gotten asked this question three years ago, this hometown Akron girl would have said LeBron James hands down. But now, it would definitely be Kyrie Irving. He is a strong athlete and the future of the NBA. He has helped bring the Cleveland Cavaliers back to life and I can’t wait to see what he’ll do this season.
What is your best sports memory?
Having the honor of escorting Bruce Smith at the enshrinement ceremony into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was an amazing experience to meet so many football legends. Another incredible memory is dancing for the Akron Zips all four years of my college career in the MAC Championship basketball game.
What sport would you play professionally if you could, and why?
You would think standing tall at 5’11 that I would be an all-star basketball player, but I have to admit, that was my worst sport. It is my favorite sport to watch so if I could, I would want to gain some of Kyrie’s skill and hit the hardwood professionally.
What’s your earliest memory of being an Ohio State fan?
When the 2002 Ohio State football team finished the year with the thrilling season-ender at the Fiesta Bowl. After two overtimes, the Buckeyes beat Miami and captured the national title. The amount of talent on the field that night was unreal and will go down in history as one of the best football games ever played.
What’s the most exciting part of being a Fox Sports Girl?
I’ve always been an athlete and a huge sports fan so being a Fox Sports Girl is a dream come true. The live interaction and being that connection to the fans is so much fun. It’s amazing to represent Ohio and share the excitement for Ohio sports. Ohio truly has the best fans ever!
I see that you went to Akron. Ever run into Coach Tressel on campus?
Oh yes! I actually had the honor of interviewing Tressel on-air for Akron’s news based show, “Lights, Camera, Akron!” It was one of the greatest moments of my life. He is such an inspiring leader not only as a coach, but as an individual. The Akron Zips are thrilled to have him on campus. He never fails to brighten my day every time I run into him.
Let’s figure out how big of a Buckeyes fan you are: How many Ohio State clothing items do you own?
Oh boy…well let’s put it this way, I am a graduate from The University of Akron and I own just as many buckeye shirts as I do for the Akron Zips. (That’s a whole drawer full!) My favorite Ohio State clothing item is my Brutus winter hat. It’s a fan favorite for sure!
Michigan coach Brady Hoke said that Johnny Manziel wouldn’t start at quarterback for the Wolverines. Would Johnny start over Braxton Miller?
No way. Although they are both strong players, Braxton Miller has incredible talent and the Buckeyes have reached so much success with him as our quarterback. He has the experience, ability, and respect from his teammates which makes him a stand out player. Now we just need to get him healthy!
The Buckeyes haven’t lost to Cal since 1921. How do you see things going this week?
Fans will see the same result this week for the Bucks! We are on a 14-game winning streak and ranked No. 2 in the country for a reason. We have skill and talent that will take us all the way this year. I will definitely be watching the game on FOX, and if any of our Buckeye fans are going to the game they should definitely check out the FOX College Saturday tour before kickoff. Get out there and show your Buckeye pride, I will be watching for you on TV!
What member of the Buckeyes should we be following on Twitter?
I recommended following Coach Urban Meyer (@OSUCoachMeyer) and Braxton Miller (@BraxtonMiller5). They both tweet positive sentiments and get me excited for Buckeye football. They appreciate the fans and are constantly giving our Buckeye nation shout outs.
More important to Ohioans: Ohio State football or picking winners in Presidential elections?
When it comes to Presidential elections, Ohio may be split in the votes, but when it comes to Ohio State football, there’s no question whether an Ohioan is a fan or not. The Buckeyes have the best fans in the land! Urban Meyer for President!
You’re the new FOX Sports Girls, was there a hazing period from your fellow FOX Sports Girls? Any initiation processes?
I am so lucky to be a part of the FOX Sports Girls! They have all been so welcoming and kind. They did make me Irish dance, but I was happy to kick things off with a little Irish jig!
